LEONA BLANCHE ESTEP LESTER, 88 years of age of the Home Creek section of Route #1 Grundy, Virginia, passed away at her home Saturday, September 5, 2009 following an extended illness.  Born in Buchanan County, she was the daughter of the late Matthew and Cosby May Estep.  She was a member of the Church of God, a loving mother, grandmother and great –grandmother, a homemaker and an Avon Sales Lady for 40 years. 

Mrs. Lester is survived by one daughter, Helen and her husband Bill Ballard   Linden, Michigan, Two sons: Bill Lester, Route #1, Grundy, Virginia, Doug and his wife Linda Lester, Route #1, Grundy, Virginia

Four Grandchildren – P. J. Prispanen, Donna Belcher, Jeannie Childress and Jessie Lester

Six Great-Grandchildren – Jordan Lester, Justin Lester, Kayla McClanahan, Cory Belcher, Cody Belcher and Blake Childress

One special nephew – Jim Stacy and his wife Virgie.

She was preceded in death by her husband James Isaac Lester, One son – Jessie James Lester, Five Daughters – Lillian Estep, Eula Allen, Lassie Estep, Pearl Thommen and Melster Marie Stacy. One brother – Joe Estep.

Funeral services for LEONA BLANCE ESTEP LESTER will be conducted Monday, September 7, 2009 at 1:00 P.M. at the Grundy Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. James Chapman officiating with burial to follow in the Mountain Valley Memorial Park at Big Rock, VA.

Friends may call at the Grundy Funeral Home after 6:00 P.M. Sunday with services at 7:00 P.M.

Active pallbearers will be Family and Friends.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Employees of Mercy Ambulance Service and Employees of Healing Hands Home Health.
