LEONARD HERMAN HAWKINS, 71 years of age of Grundy, VA, passed away Monday, June 14, 2010 at the Clinch Valley Medical Center, Richlands, VA, following an extended illness. Born in Buchanan County, he was the son of the late Charlie and Bertha Barnett Hawkins. He was a lifelong resident of Buchanan County and was a member of the New Zion Freewill Baptist Church. He was a loving father, grandfather, a retired Coal Miner and loved to hunt and fish.

Mr. Hawkins is survived by 1-Daughter: Tamara Rice, Bristol, TN, 3-Sisters: Juanita Justus, Hurley, VA, Evanell Justus, Hurley, VA, Lucille Charles, Hurley, VA

Also, survived by 4-Grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by 4-Sisters: Josephine Hawkins, Dolly Phillips, Gladys Stacy and Charlene Hurley, and 1-Brother: James Walker Hawkins.

Funeral Services for LEONARD HERMAN HAWKINS will be conducted Friday, June 18, 2010 at 1:00 P.M. at the New Zion Freewill Baptist Church, Big Rock, VA, with Ministers: E.C. Honaker and Jimmy Kerr officiating with burial to follow in Justus Cemetery on Brushy Fork, near Roseann, VA.

Friends may call at the New Zion Freewill Baptist Church Wednesday evening at 6:00 P.M. with services Wednesday and Thursday evenings at 7:00 P.M.

Active Pallbearers will be Travis Matney, Leonard Justus, Billy Charles, Mark Justus, Michael Justus, Buford Stacy, Keith Charles and Ricky Charles.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Alvin Matney, Van Stacy, Jack Charles, Epson Charles, Coolidge Justus, Jimmy Hurley, Andy Blevins, Curtis Colley and James Charles.
