LINDA MAE RAINES HESS, 61 years of age of the Looney’s Creek Section of Grundy, VA, passed away Friday, December 5, 2008 at the Buchanan General Hospital following an extended illness. Born in Buchanan County, she was a daughter of the late John Arvil and Dorothy Stiltner Raines. She was a lifelong resident of Buchanan County and attended the Old Regular Baptist Church. She was a devoted wife, loving mother and was a former employee of H&R Block where she served as a Tax Preparer.

Mrs. Hess is survived by her husband: Ballard Hess, Grundy, VA, 1-Son: Yancy and wife Tracy Hess, Grundy, VA, 1-Step-Granddaughter: Crystal Sykes, Grundy, VA, 1-Sister: Alice Faye and Husband, Herman Garrett, Cumberland Gap, TN, 2-Brothers: Danny and wife Mary Raines, Grundy, VA, Johnny and wife Judith Raines, Stewarts Draft, VA, 1-Sister-in-Law: Shelby Jean Raines, Florida

Also, survived by several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by 2-Sisters: Billie Stiltner, Emma Gaye Farmer and 1-Brother: Lee James Raines.

Graveside Services for LINDA MAE RAINES HESS will be conducted Tuesday, December 9, 2008 at 1:00 P.M. at Mountain Valley Memorial Park, Big Rock, VA, with Elder Howard Daniels officiating with burial to follow in Mountain Valley Memorial Park.
