MARIE STILTNER WOOD, 81 years of age, of Abingdon, VA, formerly of Grundy, VA, passed away Monday, August 4, 2008 at the Johnston Memorial Hospital following an extended illness.  Born in Buchanan County, she was the daughter of the late Jonah T. and Virginia Stiltner.  She was a retired store manager of Super Dollar in Richlands, VA and was a member of Painter Creek Church of Christ.  Marie was a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. 

 Mrs. Wood was preceded in death by her husband: John Seldon Wood, daughter – Lydia Mae Prater, and sister – Judy Lowman. She is survived by one son, Jessee and wife Dorothy Foster of Grundy, VA; 1-Son-in-law: Danny Prater, Abingdon, VA; 1-Step-daughter: Janice Powler; Spring Grove, IL; 2-Brothers: Lee and wife Lauene Stiltner, Richlands, VA, Gary Stiltner, Richlands, VA; 3-Sisters: Ellen and husband Brad Coleman, Warren, MI; Jean and husband Basil Looney, Breaks, VA; Mickey Chaffin, New Hope, AL; 4-Grandchildren: Danny K. and wife Wilma Prater, Abingdon, VA; Shelia and husband Larry South, Hillsville, VA; Carmen and husband Tommy Charles, Grundy, VA; Angie and husband Randy Ratliff, Bristol, VA.  Also, survived by 6-Great-Grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services for MARIE STILTNER WOOD  will be conducted Friday, August 8, 2008, at 11:00 A.M. at the Grundy Funeral Home Chapel with ministers Raffael Farrow, Richard Gaminde and David Gaminde officiating with burial to follow in the Greenhills Memory Gardens, Claypool, Hill, VA.

Friends may call at the Grundy Funeral Home Chapel Thursday afternoon after 5:00 P.M. with Services at 7:00 P.M.

Active Pallbearers will be:  Danny K. Prater, Larry South, Tommy Charles, Randy Ratliff, Morris Kiser and Ray Foster.  

Honorary Pallbearers will be family and friends.
