MARTHA JANE COLLEY VARNEY, 86 years of age of Bluefield, Virginia, went to be with the Lord on January 25, 2012 at the High Point Regional Hospital, High Point, NC.  Born on March 18, 1925 in Saltville, VA, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Louise Farris Colley.  She was a longtime resident of Williamson, WV, Vansant, VA and Richlands, VA. She was of the Christian faith attending the Church of Christ churches in Vansant, Richlands, and Bluefield.   She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great grandmother. 

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Varney, March 9, 1965.

Also, survived by the following grandchildren and their families:  Sherry and Chris, Christopher, and Blake Bell of Hinesville, GA, Tammy and Mike, Hunter, Amy, Dana, Drew and Kate Mixon of Hinesville, GA, Holly and Kevin, Brody and Tanner Helton of Richmond, VA, Melissa and Trent, Mason, Brinley and Noah Warren of Wilson, NC, Jamie and Shane, Connor, Hannah and Olivia Hayes of Tazewell, Tonya and Brandon Wells of Savannah, GA, Mandy and Richie, Gabrielle and Charlize French of Tazewell, Adam and Christy, Samuel and Jeremy Varney of Richlands, Jason and Crecey, Noah and Hannah Varney of Berea, KY, and Jessica and Alyssa Varney of Grundy.  Great-great grandchildren: Levi, Peyton and Maddox Mixon, and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by one son, Charles Danny Varney and the following siblings: Cage, Newell, and Thomas Colley, Frances Wooten, Mildred McPeak, and Virginia Poore. 

Funeral Services for MARTHA JANE COLLEY VARNEY will be conducted Saturday, January 28, 2012 at the Grundy Funeral Home Chapel with Bob Smith officiating with visitation to begin at 11:00 A.M. to await the funeral hour at 12:00 NOON with burial to follow at the Mountain Valley Memorial Park, Big Rock, Virginia. 

Active pallbearers will be Mike Mixon, Kevin Helton, Adam Varney, Trent Warren, Shane Hayes, Richie French, and Jason Varney.

The family suggests that expressions of sympathy be made in the form of donations to the American Heart Association.
