MARY CARLENE BELCHER HACKNEY, 72 years of age of Big Rock, VA, passed away Tuesday, November 22, 2011 at the Buchanan General Hospital following an extended illness. Born in Buchanan County, she was the daughter of the late Roy and Elsie Tackett Belcher. She was a lifelong resident of Buchanan County and was of the Christian Faith. Mrs. Hackney was a former Member and Delegate of the Democratic Party, Former Volunteer Worker at the Buchanan General Hospital and Former Employee of the Eastern Isles Manufacturing Company. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and was a wonderful homemaker.

Mrs. Hackney was preceded in death by her husband, Wilfred Gerald Hackney, October 29, 1990

She is survived by 2-Daughters: Rhonda Marshall and Son-in-Law: Ronnie Marshall, Bristol, VA, Kathy and husband Jimmie Rasnake, Conaway, VA, 4-Grandchildren: Chris Bryan Marshall, Dublin, VA, J.D. Rasnake, Conaway, VA, Amie Rasnake Blankenship, Floyd, VA, Matthew Ryan Rasnake, Grundy, VA, 2-Sisters: Jean and husband L.C. Ferrell, Conaway, VA, Shirley and husband Charles Atkinson, Conaway, VA, 3-Brothers: Donald and wife Lois Belcher, Glade Springs, VA, Paul and wife Gerry Belcher, Conaway, VA, Raymond Richard Belcher, Conaway, VA

Also, survived by 6-Great-Grandchildren: Sarah Rasnake, Mattison Rasnake, Chloe Rasnake, Addison Blankenship, Kai Marshall and Major Marshall; and several Nieces and Nephews.

She was preceded in death by 1-Brother: Lawrence A. Belcher, June 18, 1982, and 1-Sister-in-Law: Katie Belcher, November 12, 2002.   

Funeral Services for MARY CARLENE BELCHER HACKNEY will be conducted Wednesday, November 23, 2011 at 7:00 P.M. at the Grundy Funeral Home Chapel with Minister Michael Belcher officiating with Graveside Services to follow at the Ramey Cemetery, Conaway, VA, Thursday, November 24, 2011 at 11:00 A.M.

Friends may call at the Grundy Funeral Home Chapel Wednesday evening at 6:00 P.M. with funeral services at 7:00 P.M.

Active Pallbearers will be Chris Marshall, J.D. Rasnake, Matthew Rasnake, Michael Blankenship, Larry Belcher, Randy Belcher, Robbie Belcher, Rickey Belcher, Louie Belcher and Jonathan Clevinger.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Nieces and Nephews, Cathy Scammell and the Staff of Heritage Hall Nursing Home.
