MARY LOUISE THACKER DEEL, 75 years of age of Grundy, VA, passed away Saturday, June 14, 2008 at the Wellmont-Bristol Regional Medical Center, Bristol, TN, following an extended illness. Born in Buchanan County, she was the daughter of the late Tom and Alice Charles Thacker. She was a lifelong resident of Buchanan County and was a member of the Pilgrim Home Old Regular Baptist Church. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and was a Employee of the Buchanan County School System working as a Custodian at the Grundy Junior High for 30-Years.

Mrs. Deel is survived by her husband: Ervin Gilford Deel, Grundy, VA, 4-Daughters:  Brenda Skeens, Lebanon, VA, Shelia and husband Roy Clanton, Grundy, VA, Jenny and husband John Ramey, Elizabethton, TN, Sandy and husband Tim Riffe, Grundy, VA, 1-Son: Larry and wife Jackie Deel, Davenport, VA, 3-Sisters:   Dorothy O’Quinn, Haysi, VA, Joann and husband Billy Don Deel, Vansant, VA, Rosie Thacker, Richlands, NC, 2-Brothers: Ira and wife Linda Thacker, Vansant, VA, Jimmy and wife Irene Thacker, Vansant, VA

Also, survived by 8-Grandchildren and 9-Great-Grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by 3-Sisters: Edna Robinson, Pinkie Viers and Jacqueline Thacker and 1-Brother: Arthur Thacker.

Funeral Services for MARY LOUISE THACKER DEEL will be conducted Monday, June 16, 2008 at 1:00 P.M. at the Pilgrim Home Old Regular Baptist Church on Sunset Hollow, Prater, VA, with Elders: Arnold Bailey, Michael Hagerman, Willard Hecks and Brother Dewayne Belcher officiating with burial to follow in the O’Quinn-Deel Cemetery on the Left Fork of Greenbrier, near Haysi, VA.

Friends may call at the Grundy Funeral Home Chapel Sunday afternoon at 6:00 P.M. with services at 7:00 P.M.

The body will be moved to the Pilgrim Home Old Regular Baptist Church on Sunset Hollow, Prater, VA, Monday morning at 11:00 A.M. to await the funeral hour at 1:00 P.M.

Active Pallbearers will be: Roy Clanton, Tim Riffe, John Ramey, Robbie Davis, Shawn Doughty, Richie Waddell, Chad Garrick, Chris Skeens, Matt Owens, Brad Hurley, Wayne Deel and Ferdie Bowman.
