MARY M. HURLEY HICKS, 84 years of age of Hurley, VA, went to sleep in “Jesus” Wednesday morning, June 11, 2008 at the Buchanan General Hospital following an extended illness. Born in Buchanan County, she was the daughter of the late Doffie and Martha McClanahan Hurley. She was a lifelong resident of Buchanan County and was a member of the Hurley Church of God. She was a devoted wife, loving mother and was a wonderful homemaker. 

Mrs. Hicks was preceded in death by her husband: Walter Hicks.

She is survived by 4-Sisters: Anna Lou Ashby, Hurley, VA, Belvie and husband James Daniels, Grundy, VA, Ola and husband Ira Tiller, Saltville, VA, Alma and husband Jimmy Endicott, Abingdon, VA, 4-Brothers: Burton and wife Betty Hurley, Cedar Bluff, VA, J.B. and wife Joan Hurley, Hurley, VA, Lillard Hurley, Grundy, VA, Charlie and wife Ada Hurley, Belfast, VA

Also, survived by several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by 1-Infant Daughter; 2-Sisters: Mae Keene & Graffie Shortt; and 2-Brothers Vernil Hurley & Ira Hurley.

Funeral Services for MARY M. HURLEY HICKS will be conducted Saturday, June 14, 2008 at 1:00 P.M. at the Hurley Church of God, Hurley, VA, with the service by Rev. Michael Ashby, Minister of Music Gary Charles and the Coleman Family Singers. Burial will follow at the Doffie Hurley Cemetery on Race Fork, near Hurley, VA.

Friends may call at the Hurley Church of God, Hurley, VA, Friday afternoon at 4:00 P.M. with services at 7:00 P.M.

Active Pallbearers will be Nephews.

She was blessed with special Caregivers: Judy Hurt, Shelby Cline and Cathy Dotson.
