MAXINE JEAN PROFFITT KINDER, 82 years of age of the Dismal Section of Oakwood, VA, passed away Sunday, July 31, 2011 at her home following an extended illness. Born in McDowell County, WV, she was the daughter of the late Herman and Oma Stanley Proffitt. She was a resident of Buchanan County most of her life and was a member of the Dismal Holiness Church for over 26-years. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and was a wonderful homemaker.

Mrs. Kinder was preceded in death by her husband Rastes Harvey Kinder, May 1998.

She is survived by 3-Daughters: Phyllis and husband Jerry Cook, Connelly Springs, NC, Thyllis Cook, Vansant, VA, Connie and husband Steve Blankenship, Vansant, VA, 1-Son: Ronnie and wife Wilma Kinder, Kinder Road, Oakwood, VA, 2-Sisters: Gracie Anderson, Dismal Route, Oakwood, VA, Louise Anderson, Bristol, TN, 1-Brother: Ervin and wife Geraldine Proffitt, Dismal Route, Oakwood, VA

Also, survived by 12-Grandchildren and 15-Great-Grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by 1-Son: James Harvey Kinder, 1-Sister: Hazel Deel and 1-Brother: Charlie Proffitt.

Funeral Services for MAXINE JEAN PROFFITT KINDER will be conducted Wednesday, August 3, 2011 at 1:00 P.M. at the Grundy Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Danny Houchins officiating with entombment to follow in Greenhills Memory Gardens Mausoleum, Claypool Hill, VA.

Friends may call at the Grundy Funeral Home Chapel Tuesday evening at 6:00 P.M. with services at 7:00 P.M.

Active Pallbearers will be Grandsons and Great-Grandsons.
