MELISSA ANN (MISSY) COMPTON, 19 years of age of the Poplar Creek section of Grundy, Virginia, passed away Friday, May 27, 2011 at the Buchanan General Hospital following a brief illness.  Born in Tazewell County, Virginia, she was the daughter of Steve and Brenda Joyce Justice Compton.  She was a member of the Grace Baptist Church and was a 2010 graduate of Grundy High School. 

In addition to her parents, she is survived by one brother: Barry Keith Compton, Grundy, VA, Maternal grandmother – Jewell Marie Justice, Grundy, VA, Two aunts – Kathy Younce, Granite Falls, NC, Donna  Bryant, Grundy, VA, Seven Uncles - Bruce Compton Jr., Grundy, VA, Kenneth Compton, Big Rock, VA, Larry Justice, Vansant, VA, Charlie Justice, Big Rock, VA, Gene Justice, Harman, VA, Winfred Justice, Grundy, VA, Lonnie Robert Justice, Grundy, VA

She is also survived by several cousins.

Funeral services for MELISSA ANN (MISSY) COMPTON will be conducted Wednesday, June 1, 2011 at 1:00 P.M. at the Grace Baptist Church with Revs. Dean Powers and Tim Charlton officiating with burial to follow in the Mountain Valley Memorial Park at Big Rock, VA.

Friends may call at the Grace Baptist church Monday evening after 5:00 P.M. with services Monday and Tuesday evenings at 7:00 P.M.

Active pallbearers will be Bruce Compton Jr, Kenneth Paul Compton, Ronald Keith Stump, Loyd Younce, Andre Martinez, Terry Owens, Larry Justice and John Duty.
