ORBIE HELEN COCHRAN OWENS, 84 years of age of Grundy, VA, passed away Friday, August 15, 2008 at the Heritage Hall Nursing Home, Grundy, VA, following an extended illness. Born in Dickenson County, she was the daughter of the late George F. and Josie Deel Cochran. She was a resident of Haysi, VA, most of her life prior to moving to Buchanan County and attended Vansant Baptist Church. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and was a wonderful homemaker.

Mrs. Owens was preceded in death by her husband Park E. Owens, March 18, 1993.

She is survived by 2-Daughters: Linda Sue and husband Roger Brown, Grundy, VA, Patricia Ann and husband J.D. Jackson, Grundy, VA, 2-Sons: Parker “Bear” Jr. and wife Linda Owens, Oakwood, VA, Ronnie Lee and wife Alice Owens, Birchleaf, VA, 1-Brother: Clifford and wife Pauline Cochran, Bristol, VA, 1-Daughter-in-Law: Janice Owens,  Millbrook, AL

Also, survived by 9-Grandchildren: Mark Jackson, Tim Jackson, Robert Brown, Kenny Owens, Stephen Owens, Christopher Owens, David Owens, Karen Brooks and Sonja Seeders, and 7-Great-Grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by 1-Son: William G. Owens, 1-Grandson: Brian Keith Owens, 4-Sisters: Orpha Cochran,. Beulah Owens, Beatrice Hale and Carolena Ratliff.

Funeral Service for ORBIE HELEN COCHRAN OWENS will be conducted Monday, August 18, 2008 at 11:00 A.M. at the Grundy Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Alan Moore officiating with burial to follow in Mountain Valley Memorial Park, Big Rock, VA.

Friends may call at the Grundy Funeral Home Chapel Sunday afternoon at 5:00 P.M. with services at 7:00 P.M.

Active Pallbearers will be: Mark Jackson, Tim Jackson, Robert Brown, Kenny Owens, Stephen Owens, Christopher Owens and David Owens.
