OVAL FRANCES HAMILTON LESTER, 85 years of age of Roanoke, VA, passed away Monday, August 22, 2011 at the Mountain View Health Care Center, Elkhorn City, KY, following an extended illness. Born in Pike County, KY, she was the daughter of the late Oakley Haney and Jamimia Ward Hamilton. She was a resident of Buchanan County most of her life and was a member of the Presbyterian Church. She was a graduate of Grundy High School. She moved to Flint Michigan in the early 1950’s where she remained until retirement and then moved to Roanoke, Virginia until 2009.  She was a devoted wife, loving mother and a wonderful homemaker.  She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

Mrs. Lester was preceded in death by her husband, James Riley Lester, September 20, 1991.

She is survived by 4-Nieces: Priscilla Harszy, Swansea, IL, Linda Applegate, Flint, MI, Deborah and husband Elbert Lester, Big Rock, VA, Barbara Hamilton, California, 1-Nephew: Ronald Childress Jr., Roanoke, VA

Also, survived by 4-Great-Nieces: Becky Cook, Samantha Elmore, Amanda Schier and Alecia Childress; 2-Great-Nephews: Danny Harszy and Jim Applegate; 1-Step-Great-Niece: Brittany Clevinger; 1-Step-Great-Nephew: Jason Lester, and 4-Great-Great-Nephews. Also survived by special friends Bob and Sue Dye and their families.

She was preceded in death by 1-Son: H.R. Lester, 2-Sisters: Opal Whitt and Bonnie Jean Childress; and 1-Brother: Richard Oakley Hamilton and several nephews.

Funeral Services for OVAL FRANCES HAMILTON LESTER will be conducted Saturday, August 27, 2011 at 2:00 P.M. at the Grundy Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Don Tittle officiating with burial to follow in Mountain Valley Memorial Park, Big Rock, VA.

Friends may call at the Grundy Funeral Home Chapel Saturday at 12 Noon to await the funeral hour at 2:00 P.M.
