PEARL BOYD CHARLES, 82 years of age of Vansant, VA, passed away Saturday, October 24, 2009 at the Buchanan General Hospital following an extended illness. Born in Dickenson County, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Sarah Louisa Owens Boyd. She was a resident of Buchanan County most of her life and was a member of the Coleman Methodist Church. She was  a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother and was a wonderful homemaker.

Mrs. Charles is survived by her husband of 59-years: Earl Charles, Vansant, VA, 6-Daughters: Ruby and husband Charlie Looney, Vansant, VA, Joetta and husband David Kiser, Vansant, VA, Diane and husband David Viers, Vansant, VA, Olagay Smith, Lebanon, VA, Geneva and husband Phillip Willis, Rising Son, MD, Judy and husband William Lockhart, Vansant, VA, 2-Sons: Kermit and wife Frankie Charles, Vansant, VA, Arton and wife Pauline Charles, Bristol, VA, 3-Sisters: Fanie Wells, Davenport, VA, Ruth Powers, Honaker, VA, Hazel Weakley, Manassas, VA

Also, survived by 20-Grandchildren, 20-Great-Grandchildren and 4-Great-Great-Grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by 1-Daughter: Betty Jean Boyd, 1-Son: Jerry Childress, 2-Sisters: Estil Boyd and Rosie Lockhart, and 4-Brothers: Arval Boyd, Henry Boyd, Fred Boyd and Willie Boyd.

Funeral Services for PEARL BOYD CHARLES will be conducted Tuesday, October 27, 2009 at 1:00 P.M. at the Grundy Funeral Home Chapel with Ministers: Terry Colley and Darrell Thacker officiating with burial to follow in the Mountain Valley Memorial Park, Big Rock, VA.

Friends may call at the Grundy Funeral Home Chapel Monday afternoon at 5:00 P.M. with services at 7:00 P.M.

Active Pallbearers will be Grandsons.
