PREACHER JACKIE DEAN HICKS, 51 years of age of Pilgrims Knob, VA, passed away peacefully on Monday, November 8, 2010 at the Clinch Valley Medical Center, Richlands, VA, surrounded by his loving family. Born October 3, 1959, in Richlands, VA, he was the son of Nina Wolford Hicks, Keen Mountain, VA, and the late John D. Hicks.  He was a coal miner for 26-years and was a member of the Patterson Church of Christ where he also served as a preacher.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by the love of his life, his wife of 26-years, Brenda K. Hicks, Father and Mother-in-Law: Otis and Edith Vandyke, Pilgrims Knob, VA, Sister-in-Law: Carol Hickman, Jewell Ridge, VA, 3-Sisters: Kathy and husband Jeff Keen, Roanoke, VA, Barbara Vandyke, Richlands, VA, Peggy and husband Pete Church, Keen Mountain, VA, 4-Brothers: Bobby and wife Teresa Hicks, Dismal Rt., Oakwood, VA, Richard Hicks, Doran, VA, Johnny and wife Anna Hicks, Pilgrims Knob, VA, Chris and wife Patricia Hicks, Oakwood, VA

Also, survived by 5-Nieces, 4-Nephews, 1-Great-Niece, a host of friends, co-workers and his family in the church.  

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by 1-Nephew: Jacob Hicks and 1-Great-Nephew: Jacob Bays.

Funeral Services for PREACHER JACKIE DEAN HICKS will be conducted Thursday, November 11, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. at the Grundy Funeral Home Chapel with Ministers Keith Matney and Jeff Taylor officiating with burial to follow in the Vandyke-Hinkle Cemetery on Upper Big Branch of Dismal.

Friends may call at the Grundy Funeral Home Chapel Wednesday evening at 6:00 P.M. with services at 7:00 P.M.

Active Pallbearers will be Co-Workers from SANW Mines and Friends.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Brothers, Brothers-in-Law and his Brothers in Christ.
