RITA MARLENE HOPKINS RILEY, 73 years of age of the Home Creek section of Grundy, VA passed away Monday, July 12, 2010 at Wellmont Bristol Regional Medical Center, Bristol, TN from an extended illness. Born in Pike County, KY she was the daughter of the late Fred and Ova Holland Hopkins.  She had been a life-long resident of Buchanan County and was a member of the Fellowship Baptist Church. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and was a wonderful Homemaker. 

Mrs. Riley was preceded in death by her husband Arthur “Stump” Riley on March 9, 2005.

She is survived by 3-Daughters: Rhonda Kaye and husband Archie Faile, LanCaster, SC, Deborah and husband David Snipes, Kershaw, SC, Loretta and husband Timmy John Adkins, Pikeville, KY, 5-Sons: Michael and wife Diane Riley, Regina, KY, Arthur Ray Riley, Grundy, VA, Kenneth Riley, Grundy, VA, Gary and wife Linda Riley, Grundy, VA, Robert and wife Teresa Riley, Grundy, VA, 1-Sister: Cora and husband Robert Justice, Pikeville, KY, 1-Brother: Bobby and wife Olie Mae Hopkins, Pikeville, KY

Also survived by 19 Grandchildren and 20 Great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Riley was preceded in death by 1-Grandson Joshua Allen Riley, 1-Sister Zana Me Ratliff; 4-Brothers: Roger Ray, William Robert, Donnie, Jerry Wayne Hopkins; and 2-Daughters-in-Law: Robin Riley and Mary Riley.

Funeral Services for RITA MARLENE HOPKINS RILEY will be conducted Saturday, July 17, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. at the Grundy Funeral Home Chapel with Ministers Larry Ratliff, Joe Jackson, and Jimmy Kerr officiating with burial to follow in the Mountain Valley Memorial Park, Big Rock, VA.

Friends may call at the Grundy Funeral Home Chapel Thursday evening at 6:00 P.M. with services Thursday and Friday evenings at 7:00 P.M.

Active Pallbearers will be Jackie Chapman, Herman Lester, Jr., Dabo Snipes, Michael Paul Riley, Josh Wallace, Ryan Adkins, Timothy Adkins, and Mike Young.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Members James Adkins, Derek McCoy, Nathan Boyd, Herman Lester, Chris Riley, Members of the Fellowship Baptist Church, Dr. J. G. Patel, Employees of Rescue 33, and the Employees of Healing Hands Home Health.
