ROBERT ALLEN OWENS, 52 years of age of Feds Creek, KY, passed away Sunday, March 15, 2009 at the University of Virginia Hospital, Charlottesville, VA, following an extended illness. Born in Buchanan County, he was the son of the late Juanita Marie Coleman. He was a resident of Feds Creek, KY, most of his life and was a member of Ratliff Chapel Church where he Served the Lord. Mr. Owens graduated from Feds Creek High School, Pikeville College and received his Master’s Degree from Morehead State University. He was a member of Buchanan Educators Association, Virginia Educators Association and National Educators Association. He was a devoted husband and was a retired School Teacher having served for over 29-years.

He was preceded in death by his mother: Juanita Marie Owens, and his adopted parents: Frank and Marie Coleman Owens.

Mr. Owens is survived by his wife of 15-years:  Debra Davis Owens, Feds Creek, KY, 1-Sister: Audrey Hazel Abshire, Feds Creek, KY, 1-Brother: Steven Allen and wife Annettee Saylor, Pikeville, KY

Also, survived by 6-Nieces: Patricia and husband Jeff Matney, Juanita Rosemarie Saylor, Faith Rae Irick, Mia Paige Irick, Sydney Bashae Abshire, Jennifer Jo Johnson, 6-Nephews: Howard Clayton and wife Wraylynn Abshire, Griffin Clay Abshire, Jonthan Howard Abshire, Jeffery Aaron Matney, Johnny Lee Davis and Kyle Johnson. He had many more nieces and nephews out of state.

Funeral Services for ROBERT ALLEN OWENS will be conducted Thursday, March 19, 2009 at 1:00 P.M. at the Grundy Funeral Home Chapel with Ministers: Jeff Stacy, Rick Ellis and Rick Bevins officiating with burial to follow in Mountain Valley Memorial Park, Big Rock, VA.

Friends may call at the Grundy Funeral Home Chapel Tuesday evening at 6:00 P.M. with services Tuesday and Wednesday evenings at 7:00 P.M.

Active Pallbearers will be Howard Clayton Abshire, Jeff Matney, Brian Sullivan, William Lee Davis, Johnny Lee Davis, Greg Hackney, Kyle Johnson, Shannon Stacy and Dewayne Stacy.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Thomas Deel and Rodney Owens.
