ROBERT YATES,
83, of Ocala, Florida died January 10, 2012.
He was a native of Buchanan County,
Virginia.
He was self-employed and was also a bus
driver for the Buchanan County School System.
He and his wife, OlaGay, moved to Ocala in
1985.
Mr. Yates was a member of Maricamp Road Church of
Christ in Ocala.
He was also a member of The American Legion
and Woodmen Lodge #14.
Mr. Yates was extremely proud of his
service to our country.
He was a veteran of WWII where He served
overseas in the 1129th Military Police Company in Luzon,
Philippine Islands.
He worked in arsenal of organization
issuing weapons and equipment to patrols and guards.
He was honorably discharged in 1947.
Robert is
survived by his wife, OlaGay Yates; daughters Lesia Yates Moseley and Renia
Thompson (husband) Jim Thompson of Ocala; two grandsons Brandon and Austin
Moseley also of Ocala; sister Myrtle Coleman of Fincastle, VA; brother Rush
J. Yates of Vansant, VA and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded
in death by five brothers: John, Sidney, Lee, Paul and Dewey and three
sisters: Mary Looney, Julie Hagy, and Hettie Coleman.
Funeral Services for
ROBERT YATES will be conducted
Saturday, January 14, 2012 at 11:00 A.M. at the Grundy Funeral Home Chapel
with Evgs. Mike Rife and Jerry Bliffen officiating with burial to
follow in Greenhills Memory Gardens, Claypool Hill, VA.
Friends may call
at the Grundy Funeral Home Chapel Friday evening at 6:00 P.M. with services
at 7:00 P.M.
Full Military
Rites will be conducted at the cemetery by Members of Child’s Gentry Post
No. 7360 of the VFW.
