
ROGER DEAN
BLANKENSHIP,
53 years of
age of the Right Hand Fork of Paw Paw, near Hurley, VA, passed away Monday,
December 13, 2010 following an automobile accident. Born March 28, 1957 in
Buchanan County, he was the son of Malvia Pruitt Blankenship Dotson, Hurley, VA,
and the late Charles Edward Blankenship. He was a disabled coal miner, loved
playing with his niece and nephew, picking his guitar, an avid outdoorsman and
enjoyed watching the Pittsburgh Steelers play football. Roger was a 1975
Graduate of Hurley High School and a member of Kelsa Church of Christ.
He is
survived by his companion, Angela Bailey and daughter Valerie, of Hurley, VA,
His mother: Malvia Pruitt Blankenship Dotson, Hurley, VA, 2-Sisters: Pam
Blankenship, Hurley, VA, Debbie and husband Jack Long, Tazewell, VA, 1-Brother:
Charles Gregory and wife Luciana Blankenship, Hurley, VA
Also,
survived by Special Aunt, Alpha Johnson; Special Uncle, Zeke and wife Jean
Pruitt; Special Niece and Nephew, Morgan and Charles Blankenship; and several
Cousins.
He was
preceded in death by Maternal Grandparents, Dock and Octavia Pruitt, Paternal
Grandparents, John and Kelsa Blankenship, several Aunts, Uncles and Cousins.
Funeral
Services for ROGER DEAN BLANKENSHIP will be conducted Friday, December
17, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. at the Grundy Funeral Home Chapel with Ministers: Darrell
Davis and Tommy Conn officiating with burial to follow in Mountain Valley
Memorial Park, Big Rock, VA.
Friends may
call at the Grundy Funeral Home Chapel Thursday evening at 6:00 P.M. with
services at 7:00 P.M.
Active
Pallbearers will be Jack Long, Dennis Damron, Danny Harold Dotson, Gary Dotson,
Paul Estep, Greg Estep, Earnel Dotson and Paul Dotson.
