RONALD DEAN “WORM” HACKNEY, 49 years of age of the Left Hand Fork Section of Home Creek, near Grundy, Virginia, passed away at the Buchanan General Hospital, Saturday, August 8, 2009 following a brief illness.  Born in Buchanan County, he was the son of Ethel Slone Hackney of Home Creek, VA, and the late Kennard Hackney.  He was of the Baptist Faith and a Coal Truck Driver.  He was a 1978 graduate of Grundy Senior High School. 

Mr. Hackney is survived by his wife, Alice Charles Hackney, Grundy, VA, Two Sons: Matthew and his wife Jessica Hackney, Home Creek, VA, Wesley Hackney, Home Creek, VA, Three Sisters: Brenda and her husband Donald Justus, Home Creek, VA, Karen and her husband Ralph Viers, Jewell Ridge, VA, Julie Hackney, Home Creek, VA, Two Brothers: Greg and his wife Bonnesha Hackney, Harman, VA, Jeff and his wife Mary Hackney, Home Creek, VA, Mother-in-Law: Burgie Lee Maturi, Grundy, VA, One Granddaughter: Eryka Paige Hackney, One Special Great Niece: Breanna “B. B.” Mullins, Harman, VA

He is also survived by several Aunts, Uncles, Nieces and Nephews. 

Funeral services for RONALD DEAN “WORM” HACKNEY will be conducted Tuesday, August 11, 2009, at 1:00 P.M., at the Grundy Funeral Home Chapel with Ministers Jimmy Kerr and Tim Brown officiating with burial to follow in the Mountain Valley Memorial Park at Big Rock, VA.

Friends may all at the Grundy Funeral Home after 6:00 P.M. Monday evening with services at 7:00 P.M.

Active Pallbearers will be Family and Friends.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Dr. J. P. Sutherland, Jr., Donald Justus, Ron Keith Justus and all Coal Truck Drivers.
