RONALD WAYNE COMPTON, 63 years of age, of Harman, Virginia passed away Thursday, July 17, 2008, at Buchanan General Hospital following an extended illness.  Born in Buchanan County, he was a son of the late Lonzo and Bercha Blankenship Compton.  He was a life-long resident of Buchanan County, a disabled Coal Miner, and a member of the Harman Memorial Baptist Church.  Mr. Compton was a devoted husband, loving father, and grandfather. 

Mr. Compton is survived by his wife of 43 years:  Linda Whited Compton. 

Survived by 2-daughters: Traci Compton, Oakwood, VA, Donna Compton, Council, VA, 1-Sister: Janice Shortridge, Abingdon, VA, Special Friend: Clayton Tiller, Council, VA, 5-Grandchildren: Misty, Taleen, and Michael Raymond Jude of Oakwood, VA, Stephanie Reese of Roanoke, VA and Nicholas Keen of Whitewood, VA

Mr. Compton was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents:  Dolphus and Ida Blankenship, and his paternal grandparents:  Herbert and Ellen Compton.

Funeral Services for RONALD WAYNE COMPTON will be conducted Saturday, July 19, 2008 at 11:00 AM at the Harman Memorial Baptist Church with. Brother Lee Upchurch and Pastor Shea Shrader officiating with burial to follow in the Owens Cemetery on Prater, VA.

Friends may call at the Harman Memorial Baptist Church on Harman, Friday evening at 6:00 P.M. with a Song Service at 7:00 P.M.

Active Pallbearers will be Family and Friends.

Honorary Pallbearers will be members of the Harman Memorial Baptist Church.
