ROOSEVELT LOCKHART, 75 years of age of North Tazewell, VA, formerly of Buchanan County, passed away Sunday, May 25, 2008 at the Clinch Valley Medical Center, Richlands, VA, following an extended illness. Born in Buchanan County, he was the son of the late Abe and Mary Osborne Lockhart. He was a devoted husband, loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was a retired Employee of Virginia Pocahontas #8 and a member of UMWA Local Union #2232

Mr. Lockhart is survived by his wife of 52-years: Christine Meadows Lockhart, North Tazewell, VA, 2-Sons: Casper Lockhart, Notasulga, AL, Delnor Lockhart, Tazewell, VA, 2-Sisters: Delores and husband Louis Daniels, Harrogate, TN, Pauline Thomas, Vansant, VA, 4-Brothers: Harvey Lockhart, Vansant, VA, Jackie Lockhart, Vansant, VA, Josh and wife Pauline Lockhart, Vansant, VA, William and wife Emma Lockhart, Vansant, VA

Also, survived by 1-Granddaughter: Heather Lockhart, Tazewell, VA, 4-Grandsons: Eric Lockhart, Tazewell, VA, Chris Lockhart, Notasulga, AL, Shawn Lockhart, Notasulga, AL, Hunter Lockhart, Tazewell, VA, and 2-Great-Grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by: 1-Daughter: Patty Lockhart Baker, 1-Son: Keister Lockhart, and 3-Brothers: Donald, Burton and Verlin Lockhart.

Funeral Services for ROOSEVELT LOCKHART will be conducted Wednesday, May 28, 2008 at 11:00 A.M. at the Grundy Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Edward Tiller and Rev. Randy Webb officiating with burial to follow in Greenhills Memory Gardens, Claypool Hill, VA.

Friends may call at the Grundy Funeral Home Chapel Monday afternoon at 5:00 P.M. with services Monday and Tuesday evenings at 7:00 P.M.

Active Pallbearers will be: Eric Lockhart, Chris Lockhart, Shawn Lockhart, Dennis Lockhart, Alan Meadows, Freddie Horn and Arthur Meadows.
