ROY LESTER HUMBERT, 76 years of age of Mavisdale, VA, passed away Thursday, January 22, 2009 at his home following an extended illness. Born in Somerset, PA, he was the son of the late Earl and Mary Donaldson Humbert. He was a resident of Buchanan County most of his life and was a member of the Bethlehem Old Regular Baptist Church. He was a devoted husband, loving father, grandfather, Retired Coal Miner & Security Guard and served in the United States Army.

Mr. Humbert is survived by his wife of 38-Years: Ada Gail Sheets Humbert, Mavisdale, VA, 1-Daughter: Pennie and husband Christopher Ratliff, Mavisdale, VA, 3-Sons: Kevin Humbert, Blacksburg, VA, Barry and wife Rosalee Humbert, Vansant, VA, Bob and wife Anna Marie Baker, Akron, OH, 3-Sisters: Irene Sarver, Somerset, PA, Rosie Yoder, Somerset, PA, Burnetta Burke, Somerset, PA

Also, survived by 2-Granddaughters: Ariel Faith Ratliff and Bethany Nicole Ratliff of Mavisdale, VA, and 2-Grandsons: Noah Baker and Daniel Baker, Akron, OH.

Funeral Services for ROY LESTER HUMBERT will be conducted Sunday, January 25, 2009 at 1:00 P.M. at the Bethlehem Old Regular Baptist Church #1 on Poplar Creek, with Elders: Jim Blankenship, Harvey Creech, James McClanahan, Frank Newsome, Eddie Newsome and David O’Quinn officiating with burial to follow in the Stiltner-Rice Cemetery on Poplar Creek, near Grundy, VA.

Friends may call at the Bethlehem Old Regular Baptist Church #1 on Poplar Creek Friday afternoon at 5:00 P.M. with service Friday and Saturday evenings at 7:00 P.M.

Active Pallbearers will be Kevin Humbert, Barry Humbert, Bob Baker, Chris Ratliff, Joe Keene, Craig Lane, Robert Rose, Leon Elswick and Keith Elswick.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Brothers-in-Law, Walter Sheets, James Stump, Larry Lane, Tex Lane, Radford Rice, David Poland, Bill Ratliff, Richard Justus, Junior McClanahan and Dr. Kabaria & Staff.

Full Military Rites will be conducted at the cemetery by Members of John Ratliff Post #164 of the American Legion.
