RUBY IVAL WILMER RATLIFF, 82 years of age of the Looney’s Creek Section of Grundy, VA, passed away Sunday, October 2, 2011 at the Wellmont-Bristol Regional Medical Center, Bristol, TN, following an extended illness. Born in Buchanan County, she was the daughter of the late Glen and Bessie Fields Wilmer. She was a lifelong resident of Buchanan County and was a member of the Church of Christ. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and was a wonderful homemaker.

Mrs. Ratliff was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Chester Ratliff, March 7, 1986.

She is survived by 6-Daughters: Shirley Jean Layne and special friend Larry Melton, Oakwood, VA, Delores Ann and husband Darrell Looney, Oakwood, VA, Joan and husband George Looney, Grundy, VA, Patricia and husband Ronnie Layne, Grundy, VA, Rebecca Kay and husband Allen Cline, Grundy, VA, Rita and husband Jack Prater, Martin, KY, 4-Sons: Roy E. and wife Loretta Ratliff, Grundy, VA, Gary Richard and wife Brenda Ratliff, Grundy, VA, David Allen and wife Joann Ratliff, Evansville, IN, Mark Steven and wife Jennifer Hutchinson Ratliff, Grundy, VA, 2-Sisters: Jean Bagget, Clarksville, TN, Nell Rife, Clarksville, TN, 1-Brother: Charles and wife Geraldine Wilmer, Grundy, VA

Also, survived by 19-Grandchildren and 19-Great-Grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by 1-Daughter Yvonne Looney, November 29, 2000, 2-Sisters: Mary Ruth Coleman and Ollie Wilmer. 

Funeral Services for RUBY IVAL WILMER RATLIFF will be conducted Wednesday, October 5, 2011 at 2:00 P.M. at the Grundy Funeral Home Chapel with Elder Fred Osborne officiating with burial to follow in Mountain Valley Memorial Park, Big Rock, VA.

Friends may call at the Grundy Funeral Home Chapel Tuesday evening at 6:00 P.M. with services at 7:00 P.M.

Active Pallbearers will be Heath Hardin, Steven Layne, Jackie Prater, Allen Cline, Bradley Looney and Sam Layne.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Dr. J.G. Patel, Darrell Looney, Larry Layne, Ronnie Layne, Steven Ward, Larry Melton and Glenn Looney.
