SHELBY JEAN BELCHER, 72 years of age of the Home Creek section of Grundy, Virginia, passed away Sunday, November 21, 2010 at her home following an extended illness.  Born in Buchanan County, she was the daughter of the late Wiley and Cora Ann Breeding McClanahan.  She was a member of the Home Creek Old Regular Baptist Church and a 1956 graduate of Grundy High School.  She was a former Switch Board Operator for the Grundy Hotel, a substitute custodian for the Big Rock Elementary School and a former employee of the Ben Franklin Store.  She was a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

In addition to her parents, Wiley and Cora Ann Breeding McClanahan, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Ray Belcher in 1973.

Mrs. Belcher is survived by three sons: Gary Belcher, Home Creek, VA, Gregory and his wife Deleria Belcher, Virgie, KY, Scott and his wife Donna Belcher, Grundy, VA, Two Brothers: Arnold and his wife Helen McClanahan, Home Creek, VA, Donald McClanahan, Whitewood, VA

Six Grandchildren – Eric and his wife Brooke Belcher, Summer Belcher, Larissa Belcher and her fiancé Andy Charles, Cody Belcher, Cory Belcher and Kendyl Delaine Belcher.

Two Great-grandchildren – Jacob Blaine Belcher and Peyton Alissa Charles

One Step-granddaughter – Tesla Bentley

She is also survived by three very special friends – Shelia McClanahan, Eula Stiltner and Jennifer Belcher.

She was preceded in death her parents, Wiley and Cora Ann Breeding McClanahan, her husband Harold Ray Belcher and three brothers Dewey McClanahan, Hassell McClanahan and Elster McClanahan.

Funeral services for SHELBY JEAN BELCHER will be conducted Wednesday, November 24, 2010 at the Grundy Funeral Home Chapel at 11:00 A.M. with Ministers of the Home Creek Old Regular Baptist Church and Harold Smallwood, Kermit Wright and Roger Coleman officiating with burial to follow at the Mountain Valley Memorial Park at Big Rock, VA.

Friends may call at the Grundy Funeral Home after 6:00 P.M. Monday and there will be services Tuesday evening at 7:00 P.M.

Active pallbearers will be Ronald McClanahan, Elster McClanahan Jr., Dallas McClanahan, Steve McClanahan, Brad McClanahan, Hassel McClanahan, Jimmy Belcher and Ronnie Belcher.
