SHIRLEY JEAN RALEIGH BLANKENSHIP, 62 years of age of the Lynn Camp Section of Grundy, VA, passed away Wednesday, April 29, 2009 at her home following a brief illness. Born in Sullivan County, TN, she was the daughter of the late Clarence and Mabel Short Raleigh. She was a resident of Buchanan County most of his life and was of the Church of Christ faith. She was a devoted wife, loved traveling, cats and was a Clerk for the International Hot Rod Association.

Mrs. Blankenship is survived by her husband of 36-Years: Gerald Hank Blankenship, Grundy, VA, 1-Step Daughter: Kimberly Blankenship and husband Chris Dykes, Bristol, VA, 1-Step-Grandson: Brantly Colton Dykes, Bristol, VA, 2-Brothers: Dave Raleigh, Kingsport, TN, Jay Raleigh, Kingsport, TN

Also, survived by Nieces and Nephews: Travis Raleigh, Leslie Raleigh, Jamie Raleigh, Greg Raleigh and Katrina Raleigh.

She was preceded in death by 1-Brother: Tommy Raleigh.

Funeral Services for SHIRLEY JEAN RALEIGH BLANKENSHIP will be conducted Friday, May 1, 2009 at 2:00 P.M. at the Grundy Funeral Home Chapel with Evg. Mike Rife officiating with burial to follow in Mountain Valley Memorial Park, Big Rock, VA.

Friends may call at the Grundy Funeral Home Chapel Thursday afternoon at 5:00 P.M. with services at 7:00 P.M.

Active Pallbearers will be Travis Raleigh, Jamie Raleigh, Greg Raleigh, Chris Thompson, Chris Dykes, Danny Estep and Chris Justus.
