SHIRLEY LORRAINE DEEL THOMAS, 72 years of age of Pilgrim Knob, VA, went to be with the Lord, Wednesday, October 1, 2008 at the Clinch Valley Medical Center following a brief illness. Born in Buchanan County, she was the daughter of the late John Burl Deel and Vergie Edwards Deel Sykes. She was a lifelong resident of Buchanan County and was a member of the Big Branch Church of Christ. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and was a former Waitress for Dotson’s Drive-In.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her Step-Father: Monroe Sykes, 3-Daughters: Rita Thomas, Rhonda Stollings and Linda Boyd, 1-Son: Bobby Thomas and 6-Grandchildren.

Mrs. Thomas is survived by 1-Daughter: Sue and husband Jude Stiltner, Pilgrim Knob, VA, 4-Sons: Monty and wife Charlene Thomas, Jolo, WV, James G. “Jerry” Thomas, Pilgrim Knob, VA, Teddy Ray Thomas, Pilgrim Knob, VA, Carlos and wife Dawn Thomas, Stacy, VA, 1-Step-Son: Eugene Compton, Lebanon, VA, 1-Son-in-Law: Dennis Stollings, Grundy, VA, 3-Sisters: Pauline and husband Delano Sykes, Birchleaf, VA, Gay and husband Pierce Powers, Baltimore, MD, Kathy and husband Wayne Breeding, Davenport, VA, 1-Brother: Ellis Wayne Deel, Birchleaf, VA

Also, survived by 11-Grandchildren, 13-Great-Grandchildren, 2-Step-Granddaughters and 1-Step-Great-Grandson.

Funeral Services for SHIRLEY LORRAINE DEEL THOMAS will be conducted Monday, October 6, 2008 at 11:00 A.M. at the Grundy Funeral Home Chapel with Evg. Stanley Smith and Andy Maynard officiating with burial to follow in Mountain Valley Memorial Park, Big Rock, VA.

Friends may call at the Grundy Funeral Home Chapel Saturday afternoon at 5:00 P.M. with a song service Saturday evening at 7:00 P.M. and services Sunday evening at 7:00 P.M.

Active Pallbearers will be Family and Friends.

Honorary Pallbearers will be: Physicians and Staff of Clinch Valley Medical Center ICU Department.
