STEVE JUNIOR LANE, 49 years of age of Hoot Owl Section of Grundy, VA, passed away Monday, January 5, 2009 at the Buchanan General Hospital following a brief illness. Born in Buchanan County, he was the son of Willie Mae Beavers Lane Akers, Abingdon, VA, and the late Lee Edgar (Jake) Lane. He was a lifelong resident of Buchanan County and was a member of the Grundy Baptist Church. He was a devoted husband, loving father, grandfather, a Disabled Coal Miner and was an avid Gardner and Coin Collector.

Mr. Lane is survived by his wife: Barbara Byers Lane, Grundy, VA, 1-Daughter: Christy Lane and fiancé Brett Ramey, Oakwood, VA, 3-Sisters: Judy and husband John Gray, Wheeling, WV, Sandra Lane, Jonesboro, TN, Lisa and husband Keith Street, Abingdon, VA, 5-Brothers: Lee and wife Angela Lane, Abingdon, VA, Johnny and wife Pat Lane, Jonesboro, TN, Berges and wife Barbara Layne, Cleveland, OH, Michael Lane, Damascus, VA, Darren and wife Missy Akers, Abingdon, VA, 1-Grandson: Braxton Ramey, Oakwood, VA

Also, survived by several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services for STEVE JUNIOR LANE will be conducted Wednesday, January 7, 2009 at 2:00 P.M. at the Grundy Funeral Home Chapel with Ministers: Curtis Crouse and Donald Tittle officiating with burial to follow in Mountain Valley Memorial Park, Big Rock, VA.

Friends may call at the Grundy Funeral Home Chapel Tuesday evening at 6:00 P.M. with services at 7:00 P.M.

Active Pallbearers will be Steve Griffey, James Looney, Charles Wood, Johnny Mullins, Keith Street, Paul Hackney, Bobby Byers and Derick Matney.
