SYLVIA JEAN SLONE STURGEON, 64 years of age Big Rock, VA, passed away Friday, July 15, 2011 at her home following an extended illness. Born in Buchanan County, she was the daughter of the late Venson Buchanan and Lucy Taylor Slone. She was a loving mother, grandmother, a wonderful homemaker and a lifelong resident of Buchanan County.

Mrs. Sturgeon is survived by 1-Daughter: Teresa Slone and fiancé Brian Stiltner, Big Rock, VA, 2-Sons: Donald Junior Slone, Big Rock, VA, Vinson B. Slone and fiancé April Leftwich, Big Rock, VA, 3-Brothers: Junior and wife Debbie Slone, Mavisdale, VA, Buddy and wife Alice Slone, Hurley, VA, Perry and wife Dorothy Slone, Hurley, VA

Also, survived by 3-Grandchildren: Jordon Coleman, Colby Tyler Slone, Monica Lee Slone and Special Friend: Billie Hackney.

She was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters.

Funeral Services for SYLVIA JEAN SLONE STURGEON will be conducted Wednesday, July 20, 2011 at 11:00 A.M. at the New Zion Freewill Baptist Church with Revs. E.C. Honaker and Willard Grizzle officiating with burial to follow in Wolford Cemetery on Brown’s Bottom, Big Rock, VA.

Friends may call at the New Zion Freewill Baptist Church Monday afternoon at 5:00 P.M. with services Monday and Tuesday evenings at 7:00 P.M.

Active Pallbearers will be Family and Friends.
