TEX RUBEN LANE, 66 years of age of Maxie, VA, passed away Thursday, August 13, 2009 at the Buchanan General Hospital following an extended illness. Born in Buchanan County, he was the son of the late Henry Lee and Dollie Ann Stiltner Lane. He was a lifelong resident of Buchanan County and was a member of the Bethlehem Old Regular Baptist Church #1. He was a devoted husband, loving father, grandfather, a Coal Miner for the Harman Mining Company and was a member of United Mine Workers of America Local Union 7025.

Mr. Lane is survived by his wife: Zelma Elizabeth Sheets Lane, Maxie, VA, 1-Daughter: Sherry Lynn and husband Everette “Bucky” Rowe, Maxie, VA, 1-Sister: Betty Lou Deel, Prater, VA

Also, survived by 2-Granddaughters: Chanta S. Rowe & Alissa F. Rowe and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by 1-Son: Robert Lane; 5-Sisters: Elzia Phillips, Vannie Stanley, Avanell Ratliff, Jettie Viers and Barbara Stiltner; and 4-Brothers: Tolby, Amos, Estil and Virgil Lane.

Funeral Services for TEX RUBEN LANE will be conducted Monday, August 17, 2009 at 1:00 P.M. at the Bethlehem Old Regular Baptist Church #1, Poplar Creek Section of Grundy, VA, with Elders: Frank Newsome, Jim Bob Blankenship, Harve Creech, David O’Quinn, Eddie Newsome, James McClanahan and Tolby Bailey officiating with burial to follow in Mountain Valley Memorial Park, Big Rock, VA.

Friends may call at the Bethlehem Old Regular Baptist Church #1 Saturday afternoon at 5:00 P.M. with services Saturday and Sunday evenings at 7:00 P.M.

Active Pallbearers will be James Stump, Buddy Sheets, Leon Elswick, Larry Lane, Shane Humbert, Everette “Bucky” Rowe, Rad Rice, Craig Lane, Robert Rose, Keith Elswick, Doug Dotson and David Poland.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Ministers, Brothers of the Bethlehem Old Regular Baptist Church #1 and Nephews.
