THEODORE G. (TED) OSBORNE, JR., 67 years old of the Watkins Branch section of Grundy, Virginia, passed away at his home Wednesday, June 16, 2010 after a lengthy illness.  Born in Buchanan County, he was the son of Louise Wirtz Osborne of Salem, Virginia and the late Theodore G. Osborne Sr.  He was a 1960 graduate of Grundy High School, attended West Virginia University for two years and was a 1965 graduate of Emory and Henry College.  He was a member of the United States Army having served in the Vietnam Conflict from 1965-1967 and was honorably discharged in 1971.  He was a retired coal operator and was a member of the Buchanan First Presbyterian Church in Grundy, VA.

Mr. Osborne is survived by his wife of 39 years, Judith Kiser Osborne of Grundy, VA, Three sons: Theodore G. (Pete) Osborne III, Grundy, VA, Robert Brent and wife Jennifer Osborne, Mechanicsville, VA, Donald Bradford Osborne, Christiansburg, VA, Two grandchildren: Grayson Robert Osborne, Mechanicsville, VA, Avery Nicole Osborne, Mechanicsville, VA, Two Sisters: Mary Virginia and husband Jack Lester, Roanoke, VA, Linda Hash, Bluefield, VA, Two Brothers: David and wife Linda Osborne, Atlanta, GA, Donald E. Osborne, Salem, VA, Father-in-Law: Dewey Kiser, Abingdon, VA

He was preceded in death by one brother – Jimmy Osborne; One Sister – Ann Osborne; Mother-in-Law Edith Kiser; Two brothers-in-law – Dr. John W. (Bill) Barnard and John C. (Jake) Hash

Funeral services for THEODORE G. (TED) OSBORNE, JR. will be conducted Sunday, June 20, 2010 at 2:00 P.M. at the Buchanan First Presbyterian Church with Rev. Jeff Porter officiating with burial to follow in the Mountain Valley Memorial Park, Big Rock, VA.  Friends may call at the Buchanan First Presbyterian Church from 6:00 to 9:00 P.M. Saturday evening, June 19, 2010.

Active Pallbearers will be Robert (Bull) Bevins, Larry Brown, Jack Compton, Estel Crouse, Jack Hale, Louis Holland, Richard Mullins, Todd Owens, Craig Plymal and Jim Taylor.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Earl Baldwin, David Cecil, Jim Wayne Childress, Ural Childress, Ron Cole, Paul Compton, Larry Fields, Stoney Hale, Tom Holland, Lee Keen, Billy H. (Burr) Looney, Scotty McCoy, Lyle Mutter, Eugene (Shorty) Ratliff, Greg Rowe and Kermit Rowe.

The family suggests that expressions of sympathy be made in the form of donations to the Buchanan First Presbyterian Church, P. O. Box 1339, Grundy, Virginia.

Full military rites will be conducted at the cemetery by members of the Childs Gentry Post #7360 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
