TIVIS CAUDLE (T.C.) MULLINS, JR., 79 years of age of Grundy, Virginia, went to be with the Lord, Friday, March 25, 2011 after a courageous battle with cancer surrounded by his family and a host of friends.  Born in Dickenson County, Virginia, he was the son of the late Tivis and Didema Willis Mullins. 

Junior as he was affectionately called, moved to Buchanan County in 1949 and became an employee of the Grundy Funeral Home in 1951.  He purchased the Grundy Funeral Home in 1973 from the family of C. W. “Pete” Hurst and was President until his death.  He was a 1964 graduate of Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science. 

He was a member of the Grundy Church of Christ for 55 years and served on the Church Board for over 40 years as a Deacon.  He was a member of the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict, a member of the John Ratliff Post #164 of the American Legion.  He was the former President of Grundy Ambulance Service, a member of Sandy Valley Lodge #17 A. F. & A.M. of Grundy, the Kazim Temple in Roanoke, Virginia.  He was a member of IOOF Lodge #17, a former member of the Grundy Lions Club.  He was a former Little League Baseball Coach for several years.  He was a Board Member of the Southwest Virginia Funeral Directors Association, and a member of the National Funeral Directors Association.  He was a strong supporter of the American Heart Association, Church of Christ Youth Camp, the American Red Cross, High School Athletics, Girl Scouts, various churches and high school clubs.  He was a member and supporter of the Heavenly Helpers Relay for Life Cancer Team and was Committee Chairman for 24-Years and supporter for Boy Scout Troop 740 sponsored by the Grundy Church of Christ. 

He was the 2004 recipient of the Buchanan County Hall of Fame along with Rev. Ancil Childress. 

Junior is survived by his wife of 59 years, Agnes McClanahan Mullins of Grundy, VA, 1- Son: Curtis Ragus and wife Susan Mullins, Grundy, VA, 2-Grandsons: Curtis R. and wife Ashley Mullins Jr., Charlottesville, VA, Ryan C. Mullins, Grundy, VA, 1-Granddaughter: Shannon Alyssa Mullins, Grundy, VA, Two Great Granddaughters: Autumn Olivia Mullins and Sadie Virginia Mullins of Charlottesville, VA, 4-Sisters: Crissie Vandyke, Haysi, VA, Bonnie Mullins, Abingdon, VA, Shirley Ramey, St. Paul, VA, Beulah Mullins, Breaks, VA

Also, survived by several Nieces and Nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Tivis and Didema Willis Mullins, his mother and father in law George and Hulda Stiltner McClanahan; 5-Sisters: Eva Mullins, Ollie Mullins, Rena Nowlin, Vivian Owens and Betty Lepage; 4-Brothers: Evans Charlie Mullins, Calvin Mullins, Jimmy Mullins and Otis Mullins.

Funeral services for TIVIS CAUDLE (T.C.) MULLINS, JR., will be conducted Tuesday, March 29, 2011 at 1:00 P.M. at the Grundy Church of Christ with Evg. Dennis Wimmer, Evg. Michael Rife, Evg. William L. Neeley and Evg. Tom Cooper officiating with burial to follow in the Mountain Valley Memorial Park, Big Rock, VA. 

Friends may call at the Grundy Funeral Home Chapel Sunday afternoon at 4:00 P.M. with services at 7:00 P.M.

Mr. Mullins will be moved to the Grundy Church of Christ Monday afternoon at 3:00 P.M.  with Masonic Rites at 7:00 P.M. followed by regular services.

Full Military Rites will be conducted at the cemetery by Members of the Childs Gentry Post #7360 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
