VIRGINIA “BEA” ENDICOTT McCRACKEN MATNEY, 83 years of age of Grundy, VA, passed away Thursday, September 17, 2009 at the Buchanan General Hospital following an extended illness. Born in McDowell County, WV, she was the daughter of the late Powers and Emma Stacy Endicott. She was a resident of Buchanan County most of her life. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother and was a retired Post Mistress for Stacy Post Office. She was a member of the Ladies of the Red Hat Society and was  of the Christian Faith.

Mrs. Matney was preceded in death by her first husband: Norman McCracken, June 1954, and her second husband: Sherman Matney, February 1, 2001.

She is survived by 2-Daughters: Evelyn McCracken Clevinger, Vansant, VA, Donna Matney Yates, Vansant, VA, 1-Son: Eddie and wife Wanda McCracken, North East, MD, 1-Sister: Kathleen and husband Ray Cochran, Bristol, VA, Special Granddaughter whom she made her home with for 28-years: Amanda Hope and husband Rages Matney

Also, survived by 10-Grandchildren, 12-Great-Grandchildren, 2-Great-Great-Grandchildren and her best friend Helda Blankenship of Hurley, VA.

She was preceded in death by 1-Daughter: Debra K. Matney, 1-Son: Norman Levi McCracken, 2-Sisters: Garnett Marshall and Margie Matney, 2-Brothers: Jim Endicott and Earl “Bud” Endicott.

Funeral Services for VIRGINIA BEA ENDICOTT McCRACKEN MATNEY will be conducted Monday, September 21, 2009 at 1:00 P.M. at the Grundy Funeral Home Chapel with Evgs. William L. Neeley, Dennis Wimmer, Ministers: Danny Hess and Tim Brown officiating with entombment to follow in Mountain Rest Mausoleum at Mountain Valley Memorial Park, Big Rock, VA.

Friends may call at the Grundy Funeral Home Chapel Sunday evening at 6:00 P.M. with services at 7:00 P.M.

Active Pallbearers will be Eugene Whited, Gary Stacy, Heath Clevinger, John Litchfield, Justin Yates and Jay Yates.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Bill Ward, Dr. D. Patel, Dr. J.G. Patel, Steve Hackney, Abe Blankenship, Red Hat Sisters, Helda Blankenship, Jeff Endicott and Rages Matney.
