VIRGINIA M. “JEAN” RATLIFF BOYD, 84 years of age of Vansant, VA, passed away Sunday, January 16, 2011 at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Ann and Clayton Perkins. Born December 8, 1926, she was the daughter of the late John D. and Buggie Looney Ratliff. She was a lifelong resident of Buchanan County and was baptized into Christ at the Vansant Church of Christ, September 1958, by Evangelist Clinton Looney. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was a wonderful homemaker and seamstress.

Mrs. Boyd was preceded in death by her husband of 58-years, Martin Edd Boyd, March 17, 2003.

She is survived by 3-Daughters: Sue Melton, Meadowview, VA, Ann and husband Clayton Perkins, Vansant, VA, Regina and husband Dennis O’Quinn, Birchleaf, VA, 3-Sisters: Tora LaTragna, Bristol, VA, Lorene Jantzen, Bristol, VA, Loretta Albert, Annapolis, MD, 6-Brothers: Curtis Ratliff, Abingdon, VA, Frank Ratliff, Abingdon, VA, Ralph Ratliff, Rosedale, VA, Ray Ratliff, Bristol, VA, Clinton Ratliff, Vansant, VA, Claude Ratliff, Falls Church, VA

Also, survived by grandchildren, Lori Melton of Springfield, VA, Lisa Perkins of Bristol, VA, and Todd Perkins of Vansant, VA.

She was preceded in death by 1-Son: Randall Edd Boyd, July 3, 1976, Son-in-Law: Larry Melton, February 1, 1994, 2-Sisters: Faye Ratliff and Ruth Ratliff, 1-Brother: John D. Ratliff, Jr., and 1-Foster-Brother: Monroe Slone.

Funeral Services for VIRGINIA M. “JEAN” RATLIFF BOYD will be conducted Wednesday, January 19, 2011 at 11:00 A.M. at the Grundy Funeral Home Chapel with Evg. Mike Rife and Paul Potter officiating and music by the Union Chapel Singers with burial to follow in the Boyd Family Cemetery near her home, Vansant, VA.

Friends may call at the Grundy Funeral Home Chapel Tuesday evening at 6:00 P.M. 

Active Pallbearers will be Todd Perkins, Chris Albert, Larry Boyd, Larry Cook, Bill Cook and Delmar Osborne.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Mabel Ratliff, Rachel Cook, Mable Cook, Sharon Hill and Dr. Melissa Keene.
