WALDO WARD, 77 years of age of Grundy, VA, went to be with the Lord, Wednesday, April 7, 2010 at the Buchanan General Hospital following an extended illness. Born August 28, 1932, to the late, Irvin and Adnia Stacy Ward. He was a lifelong resident of Buchanan County and was as a devoted child of God being of the Pentecostal Faith. Waldo was a disabled coal miner working more than 30-years for the Island Creek Coal Company. A loving Husband, Father, Grandfather and Great-Grandfather.

Waldo is survived by his wife of 57-years, Helen Smith Ward, Grundy, VA, 3-Sons: Jeffrey Ward, Grundy, VA, Brett and wife Charlisa Ward, Grundy, VA, Brian and wife Deidre Ward, Vansant, VA, 2-Sisters: Kathleen and husband Eulis Keen, Grundy, VA, Janetine and husband Mike Hill, Camden, TN, 4-Brothers: Alden and wife Elsie Ward, Grundy, VA, Avon and wife Deloris Ward, Pounding Mill, VA, Danny and wife Carol Ward, Bonsfield, TX, Earl James and wife Jeannie Ward, Grundy, VA

Also, survived by 4-Grandchildren: Dean Ward, Tonya Shirley, Tyler Ward and Tiffany Ward; 4-Great-Grandchildren: Winston Shirley, Terry Ward, Devan Shirley and Sean Ward; and several Nieces and Nephews.

He was preceded in death by 1-Son: Terry Dean Ward; 2-Sisters: Ellen Keen and Martha Ward; and 2-Brothers: Victor Ward and Cleon Ward.

Funeral Services for WALDO WARD will be conducted Saturday, April 10, 2010 at 1:00 P.M. at the Grundy Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Luther Bowman officiating with burial to follow in Ward Family Cemetery on Stone Coal on Slate Creek, near Grundy, VA.

Friends may call at the Grundy Funeral Home Chapel Thursday evening at 6:00 P.M. with services Thursday and Friday evenings at 7:00 P.M.

Active Pallbearers will be Dean Ward, Tyler Ward, Winston Shirley and Family and Friends.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Norton Cancer Center, Plaza Pharmacy, Staff of Buchanan General Hospital and Staff of Johnson City Medical Center.
