WILLIAM CLIFFORD COCHRAN,
79 years of age of Bristol, Virginia, formerly of Grundy,
Virginia passed away Friday, December 24, 2010 at the Grace Health Care,
Abingdon, Virginia following an extended illness. Born in Dickenson County, he
was the son of the late George E. and Josie R. Deel Cochran. He was the former
President of Cochran’s Block, Inc. and a member of the Woodland Hill Christian
Church, Abingdon, VA. Mr. Cochran was a resident of Buchanan County most of his
life and was the the last surviving member of his immediate family. Mr. Cochran
served in the United States Marines during the Korean Conflict. He was a
lifetime member of the John Ratliff Post #164 of the American Legion. He was a
devoted husband, loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
Mr. Cochran is survived by his wife Pauline Brown Cochran of
Bristol, Virginia. Also survived by 2-Daughters: Constance and husband Corbett
Ratliff, Grundy, VA, Tamela and husband Anthony Farmer, Virginia Beach, VA;
2-Sons: Gary and wife Bernadine Cochran, Haysi, VA, Zachary and wife
Charlotte Cochran, Grundy, VA; 5-Grandchildren: Katrina Monique and husband Marc
Eubanks, Bristol, VA, Brandy and husband Kenny Hay, Abingdon, VA, Rhiannon and
husband Mike Boyd, Richmond, VA, Sharayah Cochran, Grundy, VA, Nathanael
Cochran, Grundy, VA; 4-Great-Grandchildren: Kade Eubanks, Bristol, VA, Quinn
Eubanks, Bristol, VA, Natalie Hay, Abingdon, VA, Ava Boyd, Richmond, VA. Also
survived by several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by 1-Daughter Kyra Leigh Cochran,
5-Sisters: Orpha Cochran, Orbie Owens, Beulah Owens, Beatrice Hale, and
Carolena Ratliff.
Funeral services for WILLIAM CLIFFORD COCHRAN, will be
conducted Tuesday, December 28, 2010 at 1:00 P.M. at the Grundy Funeral Home
Chapel with Minister Paul Viers officiating with burial to follow in the
Mountain Valley Memorial Park, Big Rock, Virginia.
Friends may call at the Grundy Funeral Home Chapel after 6:00
P.M. Monday evening with services at 7:00 P.M.
Full Military Rites will be conducted at the cemetery by Members
of Child’s Gentry Post No. 7360 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Active Pallbearers will be Family and Nephews.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Nathanael Cochran, Marc Eubanks,
Kenny Hay and Mike Boyd.
