WILLIAM DENFORD HURLEY, 71 years of age of Booth Branch Road Section of Grundy, VA, passed away Wednesday, July 29, 2009 at the Buchanan General Hospital, Grundy, Virginia following an extended illness. Born in Buchanan County, he was the son of the late Hobert and Bertha Hurley. Mr. Hurley is preceded in death by his wife Mary Evelyn Akers Hurley. He was a resident of Buchanan County most of his life. He was a devoted husband, loving father, grandfather and great-grand father and was a retired coal miner.

Mr. Hurley is survived by 2-Sons: William Denford Jr. and wife Lisa Michele Hurley, Grundy, VA, Gerald Wayne and wife Deena Marie Hurley, Grundy, VA, 1-Sister: Shirley Taylor, Carisle, Ohio, 1-Brother: Brooks Dean Hurley, Florida

Mr. Hurley is survived by -4- grandchildren: William Denford Hurley II, Bradley Douglas Hurley, Chadwich Clinton Hurley, and Jeremy Wayne Hurley. He is also survived by -5- great-grandchildren: William Denford Hurley, IV, Taylor Breanne Morelock, Loran Mary –Kate Hurley, Kylie Leanne Hurley, Ryan Chaden Hurley.

Mr. Hurley is preceded in death by: (1) brother: Russell Hurley, (1) sister: Bea Hurley, and (1) great grandchild: Logan Bradley Hurley. 

Funeral Services for WILLIAM DENFORD HURLEY will be conducted Friday, July 31, 2009 at 11:00 A.M. at the Grundy Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Larry Ratliff officiating with burial to follow in the Mountain Valley Memorial Park at Big Rock, VA.

Friends may call at the Grundy Funeral Home Chapel Thursday evening at 6:00 P.M. with services at 7:00 P.M.

Active Pallbearers will be grandsons, Eugene Childress and Jim Snead.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Dr. Clint Sutherland, Joey Snead, John Snead, Jimmy Goff, and Clifford Hurley.
