ZULEIMA RUTH HARMON “GRANNY RUTH” OWENS, 95 years of age of Grundy, VA, went to be with the Lord, Wednesday, February 11, 2009 at her home following an extended illness. Born in McDowell County, WV, she was the daughter of the late Burrell Blair Jr. and Martha Edgar Hubble Harmon. She was a resident of Buchanan County most of her life and was a member of the Vansant Church of Christ where she was baptized on her 28^th Wedding Anniversary, August 31, 1961, by Harry Welch and was a founding member of the SonShine Servants. Mrs. Owens was a 1931 Graduate of Welch High School. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and was a wonderful homemaker.

Mrs. Owens was preceded in death by her husband: James Michael Owens, 1961.

She is survived by 1-Daughter: Betty Jean and husband Jerry Shields, Grundy, VA, 2-Granddaughters: Sandra Ann and husband Virlo Stiltner, Grundy, VA, Pamela Susan and husband George Webb, Greenville, SC.

Also, survived by 3-Great-Grandchildren: Meredith Nicole, Catherine Danielle and James Andrew Stiltner; 3-Nieces, 1-Nephew and 6-Great-Nieces and Nephews.

She was preceded in death by 1-Son: Tommy Larry Owens, 1946, and 1-Brother: Burrell Blair Harmon, III.   

Funeral Services for ZULEIMA RUTH HARMON “GRANNY RUTH” OWENS will be conducted Saturday, February 14, 2009 at 2:00 P.M. at the Grundy Funeral Home Chapel with Evg. Mike Rife and Evg. William L. Neeley officiating with burial to follow in Mountain Valley Memorial Park, Big Rock, VA.

Friends may call at the Grundy Funeral Home Chapel Friday evening at 6:00 P.M.

Active Pallbearers will be family and friends.

Honorary Pallbearers will be SonShine Servants and the Employees of Richlands Home Health.
